- Register sales on a cash register by scanning items, itemising and totalling customers’ purchases
- Bag purchases if needed
- Process returned transactions
- Itemise and total purchases by recording prices, departments, taxable and nontaxable items; Operate a cash register
- Enter price changes accurately by referring to price sheets and special sale bulletins
- Discount purchases by redeeming coupons
- Collect payments by accepting cash, cheque, or charge payments from customers; Prepare exact change for cash customers
- Balance cash drawer by counting cash float at beginning and end of work shift
- Provide pricing information by answering questions
